Slumdog Millionaire Review

Slumdog Millionaire (2008)

Rank 194 as of January 2013
Age Rating 15 UK

CAUTION: CONTAINS SPOILERS

Why is this movie at rank 194, it's ridiculous, it's just too good for that low-a-rank! Danny Boyle's masterpiece, this great, fresh, eye-opening, different, work of art. Brilliant in so many different ways. A fairy tale with an ending that couldn't make you happier. Yet through the movie you can't help feeling upset and angry because of the way people live. It seems impossible to believe when I'm sitting here, warm, cosy, on my laptop, moaning about the 'treacherous' weather the UK has had because of an inch of snow, it really puts things in to perspective.

The movie shows Jamal's life, as he explains how he has managed to answer all of the questions to get 10,000,000 Rupees from the Indian version of 'Who want's to be an millionaire', as he is a suspect of cheating because he is a 'street boy'. It shows how different aspects of his life give him the answer. An unique spin. Different. But so effective.

Jamal, himself is played by different actors at each stage of Jamal's life (Youngest Jamal, Middle Jamal, Oldest Jamal). The younger actors are incredibly talented and give such great performances as to what life is like as a slum born youngster. But Dev Patel (Oldest Jamal) (who happened to be in one of my favourite TV series, SKINS series one!) Gave a truly amazing performance, everything felt so real. He makes you love Jamal and you find yourself rooting for him to try to win the money, even though it is all not real.

I loved this movie and I really, really, highly recommend that you watch it. I watched it on FILM 4, they will probably repeat again at some point so look out for it! I recommend that you look for what movies are on FILM 4 at 9, they are usually pretty good! It's a Danny Boyle wekend at the moment!

Forrest Gump Review

Forrest Gump

Rank 19 as of 1st January 2013
Age Rating 12 UK
CAUTION: CONTAINS SPOILERS!
Forrest Gump seems like the unlikely person to be at most of America's big events, yet he is. The movie shows his life looking for Jenny (Robin Wright) whilst being present at all the great events. "Life's like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get"

Played amazingly by Tom Hanks, which he won a incredibly well deserved Oscar for. He sits on a park bench waiting for the bus telling his life story to un-expecting strangers who happen to be waiting for the bus as well. He's waiting for the bus to meet his one beloved, Jenny.

You can't help feeling sorry for Forrest, born with bad legs, the doctor says he won't be able to run. But boy, he can run. "Run Forrest, run!" He enters the army and his best friend from the army dies after he tries to save him, Jenny leaves him. He just seems to have such an unfortunate life, without even realising he does. "Mama always said, dying was a part of life. I sure wish it wasn't."

Overall this movie is great and deserves being 19th on the list! It's such a heart warming, moving, reality-check movie, perfect. "That's all I have to say about that!"

Good Will Hunting Review

Good Will Hunting

IMDb Page

Official Trailer

Rank 153  as of 1st January 2013)
Age Rating: 15 UK

It seemed like a such predictable movie, which in a way, it was. However, it was still so very excellent. I loved it. It made me cry. (is that bad!?)

Good Will Hunting seemed to touch you in the correct places, it was heart warming, yet so very incredibly sad. Deep, and meaning, but not so that it was over power just because the writers got everything right. The psycology side of the movie seemed so accurate, and realistic, but again so unrealistic, (I mean who really has that good a mind without practise?! - wish I did!), but nevertheless it has aspects of real life situations people find themselves in. Having so much but not knowing what to do about nor that they can do anything with it, they would just rather things stayed the same, people don't like change, people don't believe in themselves, and I think that Good Will Hunting is trying to get that message across.

Robbin Williams played Sean, who is Will's (Matt Damon) psychologist, it such greatness helping contribute to the realness of the movie. Robbin also won a Oscar for Best Actor In A Supporting Role (Congratulations!) He played the role so convincingly, I wouldn't mind if he was my psychologist - not that I need one, but you know what I mean! Matt Damon was also awesome as (alliteration!) Will Hunting!

Oh and one last thing, I loved the title! It's pretty clever! And one I had to explain to my friends, God help me!!

Ps. now here i'm probably going write up some excuse to why I haven't done any reviews. But I'm not going because it's same old, same old rubbish. I can only apologise - not that many people actually read these but whatever. It's Easter Break soon so I will(try to) get some reviews up. Any you particularly want? Might do Fight Club.

The Perks Of Being a Wallflower Review

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

(Rank 211 as of 1st January 2013)
Age Rating 12a

This review is going to be a bit rant-y (is that even a word?!) because I thought it wasn't to great. I think it's mainly because I read the book  enjoyed, loved, and connected with it so much. So if you have read the book DO NOT watch the film. Well that's my bit of

I didn't think they adapted the screenplay well. They more focused on the relationship between Charlie (the main character,  Logan Lerman) and Sam (Emma Watson) which it didn't in the book. The book was more about Charlie growing up and discovering different things, rather than him being in a relationship with someone. Yes, I do know that Stephen Chbosky wrote the book and adapted the screenplay, and directed it but even so I don' think he did a great job!

However, a part from the awful screenplay adaptation everyone played their characters very well and we got to hear Emma Watson with a American Accent! It was a bit strange! Ezra Miller plays Patrick or, Nothing, which he is sometimes called! He plays it very well and I think that you whole cast were excellent they all worked well as an ensemble, they won an award for this to.
