WALL•E Review

WALL·E

Rank 59 as of 1/1/13)
Age Rating U
Year 2008

WALL.E is set in the future. WALL.E is a rubbish collecting robot that is left to clean up Earth whilst we humans live in a space ship because the planet is unsafe and so full of rubbish that we can't bare to live on it. WALL.E then meets, EVE, another robot who was sent to Earth to look for some form of life. When EVE goes into hibernation mode and is returns to the spaceship WALL.E follows her on an adventure that will decide and change the future of mankind.

Although it's a children's movie, the messages of it is a lot deeper and dark than a child would realise. Humans have ruined the planet because of laziness and a multi-nation company, BUY N LARGE, who had taken over the world. The space ship in which the entire human population are resident, are sponsored and run by, BUY N LARGE, meaning that the humans food is all liquidised and drunk through a straw. Resulting in the entire population to be obese and creating the consequent of people being unable to walk so have to be moved around by robots. The complete human society is relying on robots, which is something that isn't really that unrealistic for our futures, I have heard that people have been creating driverless cars!!

WALL.E is a allegory of our futures. A story with  huge morals of the fate of mankind and Earth. WALL.E is a great family film one that will leave you feeling shocked and almost scared, worried even for our children's futures, deep!!! WALL.E definitely deserves it's place in the Top 250.

Pulp Fiction Review

Pulp Fiction
Rank as of 1/1/13)
Age Rating 18
Year 1994

Being forth in the 250 list, out of all the movies in the world, you would think this film has got be pretty special, well let me say, I does not disappoint. The top-billed cast and of course none other than the superstar himself, Quentin Tarantino, director and writer. Pulp Fiction is like the day in the life of two mob hit men, a boxer, a gangster's wife, and a pair of diner bandits who's day's intertwine into stories of violence and redemption.

Pulp Fiction, is a crime thriller, with it's comedic value of wit and humorous banter between the characters on which the story is set on. Especially with Vincent Vega, and Jules Winnfield played by the brilliance of John Travolta and Samuel L Jackson, who star as two mob hit men. At the beginning its of them discussing Vincent's (John Travolta) travel's across Europe and how people say certain things from McDonalds - Big Mac, is Le Big Mac much to Jules' amusement. Although the scene has no relevance to the rest of the movie it is what makes Pulp Fiction, there are many a scene which have no importance to anything about the movie but giving the movies it's wittiness.

The story also focusses on a pair of diner bandits whom we see at the beginning and end of the movie. Hunny Bunny and Pumkin are the names in which the couple call each other, played by Amanda Plummer as well as being named Hunny Bunny is also known as Yolanda, and Tim Roth who play Pumpkin aka Ringo. The couple discuss which place they think would be a good place to make a robbery. Deciding on diners, because of  the amount of people in them and how they are easy to take control of. We later see them make an attempt to rob the diner but Jules steps in their way and takes control of the situation.

The story also follows the life of a boxer who never quite made it to the top. We see as flash back to when he was 10 and how he had a memento of his dad which was a watch that his great grandfather wore in World War I, and then his grandfather wore it for good luck in World War II, but died, the watch was brought to him by a friend solider and he tells a story of how they keep it safe by keeping 'up his arse'. (Here's the clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFtHjV4c4uw)

Finally the story follows the life of a gangsters wife, Mia Wallace played by the ever-so-wonderful, Uma Thurman. We watch her life when Vincent takes her out for a meal on boss, Marsellus orders, who is Mia's husband. She takes Vincent to a diner and then end up going back to Mia's house to where Mia snorts drugs and then over-dosses and then Vincent has to frantically drive her to his friends whilst Mia is 'ODing' on him. Once they arrive at Vincent's friends, in s frenzy that causes them to create skids marks and crash onto Vincent friends drive, whilst Vincent, his friend and their family hunt the house looking for a felt pen, cursing, shouting and panic the scene is a manic race to keep her alive. they finally give her an adrenaline shot, reading the instructions, Vincent takes the job of injecting it into her heart in a stabbing motion. Mia spring straight up still with the injection hanging out of her chest.  In my opinion Pulp Fiction is one of the best movies ever made, just for the total wackiness of it.  Please do watch it, it is truly remarkable.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day Review

Terminator 2: Judgement Day
Rank 36 as of 1/1/13)
Age Rating 15
Year 1991

Arnold Schwarzenegger plays the terminator, of course, I don't think there is a better person who could have played the Terminator, they are practically the same, not much personality  trying to understand people. ( Yes he's not my most favourite person after seeing him on Graham Norton's Show). Anyway asides Arnold Schwarzenegger's personality, the boy in which the Terminator has to look after, John Connor, is played well by Edward Furlong, he played his part well through the frightening scenes and gave a good convincing performance throughout. His mother, Sarah Connor, has become a warrior because of knowing about the nuclear war coming against the machines but in her determination she bombed a computer factor and was caught and thrown into a mental hospital, as she was 'insane'. Linda Hamilton plays her role of being mental amazingly and the performance is always completely played spot-on and convincingly.

The movie starts off quite slow as it takes awhile to build up the story but once the story is built and elaborated the action keeps coming, almost as action-packed as the first Terminator. It is great but I prefer the first Terminator.

Hasta la vista Baby!
I'll be back!
